Otters may scupper plans for Urdd organisers

PARKING and camping facilities for over 6,000 festival-goers expected to flock to Ceredigion for Wales’ biggest youth event in just over six weeks’ time could be put in jeopardy by a small furry creature.

Organisers of the Urdd Eisteddfod applied back in February for temporary planning permission for land on the Llanerchaeron estate, near Aberaeron, to be used as a car park, caravan site and access for the week-long festival.

But Ceredigion’s planning committee are only due to discuss the proposals today (Wednesday) where it is expected they will defer the application to await the outcome of a survey into otter activity on the site.
